DOCTOR, anyone, this, believe, crazy

Does anyone believe this or is my doctor crazy?

I just had a baby 4 weeks ago and my doctor said I could start having sex once the bleeding stopped. The only thing is I'm not on birth control yet (planning to be in another 2 week). Anyway he said that as long as I was breast feeding it was practically impossible to ovulate. My husband absolutely hates to wear condoms so I was wondering how true this could be cuz I heard once you had a baby you are very fertile. So should I believe what my doctor is telling me?

My neighbor was told the same thing- 2 of her 10 kids were concieved while she was breastfeeding.. good thing she wanted a big family.
